Pittsburgh Summary

We left for Pittsburgh on Saturday morning. One of the most straightforward flights ever, yay Southwest! Cab to a nice hotel, and then we walked to the south side. Went to 3 bars, eating tasty sandwiches at one of them. Friday night Pittsburgh won the Stanley Cup, so there were still drunk people out at 3pm. Amazing. You all know I do not like the Penguins. Not one bit, so this whole Stanley Cup thing was a tad annoying. We walked by a bar and there were people looking in the windows and stuff. We were like, "what's the fuss about". It wasn't till the next day when we read the paper that we learned the Stanley Cup was in that bar. That's probably as close as I'll get to the cup... walking past the place where it was.

Continuing on... Saturday night was the baseball game. Pittsburgh vs. Detroit (unfortunately those were the teams playing for the Stanley Cup, so there were some tensions in the crowd, but moving on). The game was great fun. The views of the city and the way the stadium is designed is very cool. Boats can dock right outside it, and it's totally walkable from the city. Pittsburgh has excellent sidewalks. After the game we stopped at a bar by the stadium before walking back. Had tasty chicken wings made by a chef who has a friend who plays in a band we saw at our college's Fred Fest. Why were we talking to the chef? I don't know.

Sunday we slept till 10. Checked out by noon. Took a long walk then. Checked out Point State Park, and the arts festival. Then we walked along the river towards the Strip District. Bunch of food stores and other random eating places/shopping places. Walked back and sat across the river from PNC Park. Just watched the boats and listened to the crowd at the Sunday day game. Relaxing. Hopped a cab to the airport and flew back to Philadelphia. All in all a great weekend!!
